The Patagonia Torrentshell rain jacket is an item that I take on every hike in the UK due to the most unpredictable weather. it fits well on top of my base layers and works well as an active layer too. If I want to stay dry I whip this jacket on and I’m protected against the elements immediately.
It has a lot less breath. Even with the side vents down it still builds up a lot of condensation inside when hiking. In hot weather It’s almost like trekking with a plastic bag on. If you’re not too sweaty then it really works well. I won’t be giving it up any time soon.
